Our admissions committee works hard each year to admit students who will enrich classroom conversation and increase learning opportunities. Strong work history, managerial experience, non-traditional undergraduate study, and distinct personal backgrounds are some indicators that our committee evaluates, but another area of importance is international citizenship.
With 30 – 40% of our full-time MBA program students coming from countries across the globe — including India, China, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and South Korea among others — they share their cultural traditions, business customs, and individual opinions within our cohort structure. These perspectives augment the value of our curriculum and enhance the overall MBA experience.
As education systems vary greatly across regions and countries, the application process for our international students has an additional component that must be completed for their file to be complete – the supplemental evaluation. During this process, our Office of International Admissions will confirm that the student’s degree is equivalent to a U.S. 4-year Bachelor’s degree and that their GPA meets university minimum requirements.
Additionally, they will be confirming that the student has fulfilled the English Language Proficiency requirements of our university. To process this supplemental evaluation, our Office of International Admissions will need the following:
- TOEFL or IELTS score report
- Bachelor’s degree transcripts/marksheets in original language and in English
- Bachelor’s degree certificate
- Master’s degree transcripts/marksheets in original language and in English (if applicable)
- Master’s degree certificate (if applicable)
As our departmental application includes transcript and score report upload options within the Education History and Test Scores sections, all international applicants can include the above documents with their other application materials.
While we do not have separate application deadlines for international students, it is important to note that the supplemental evaluation process can take an additional 1-3 weeks.
Once it is received by our office, your file will be moved to complete (as long as all other required materials have been processed) and you will be notified that your application is being forwarded for review by our committee.
Due to this additional step, the timeline for a final admissions decision or invitation for an interview for international students is 5-9 weeks from the date of a complete application instead of our 4-6 week timeframe for domestic students.
If international applicants are experiencing any confusion or needing assistance while our Office of International Admissions completes the supplemental evaluation, they can always reach out to our office firstname.lastname@example.org or 503-725-8001.
I’m also available to address questions through an in-person, phone or Skype advising appointment. Our current students can also be a helpful resource that international students can connect with directly through our Ask an Ambassador Portal.
